To download the file, Google search for this exact phrase, "Windows 7 RTM concurrent remote desktop patch"… it should be the first thing that shows up on the search results. Then follow the instructions on that site. It is a different GUI (DOS Pop-up) than what is on screen, but essentially the same thing. Follow the prompts.

So I download the file, unzip it, right click it to run as admin. The file magically disappears and AVG pops up with a trojan warning. Any explanation?

ubermacher December 31, 2019 at 7:16 am

When I scanned this file or zip version of it with Malwarebytes it was identified as Trojan. So even though it functioned and I was able to remote from Win Pro to this Win Home I choose to remove it for the risk is too high.

Make a shortcut like the one below.
Replace PCNAME with your computer name or IPAddress
C:WindowsSystem32mstsc.exe /v:PCNAME or IPADDRESS /console
example
C:WindowsSystem32mstsc.exe /v:192.168.1.204 /console

Scanned with ESET Smart Security, no viruses.

But on the otherhand no idea how this works? I take it this is not for non-local connections?

I tried to utilize this patch but i use my machine from a bunch of locations and i don't want a new session when i log on using RDC. Now that I applied the patch, i loaded Windows 7 pro but it still allows multiple sessions for the same login credentials. How do I put this back so that it will lock the machine i'm not using and take over the session?

Reply

Tim Mitchell December 31, 2019 at 7:16 am

I don't to create a separate instance, i need to "take over" the current session on the host machine. Is there a way to configure it that way?

So after i did as the video instructed, how do i connect my laptop to my desktop? Any suggestions? Would be greatly appreciated!

Reply

Cho CoMo December 31, 2019 at 7:16 am

The program "RemoteDesktopConnection" is used to access the remote.
Search for it in your START window; it should already be installed and available.

Reply

Cho CoMo December 31, 2019 at 7:16 am

Because that is what the signature LOOKS like to your antivirus; it is a False positive. That name is allocated to that signature by your virus software, NOT by the Virus AUTHOR. Symantec (or whomever) has to call it something, now don't they.

Very helpful, thanks heaps…As sccerstr09 mentioned, because it's a patch file e.g. anti virus programs will automatically alert it as a malware so just need to allow it. No drama 🙂
