also need spacebar to center on hero.. i just wanted to check this out, i haven't really messed with the hotkeys yet, and I'm just now starting to get back into the game after 5 or so years.

why not use alt for items? all my items are rather straight forward and i don't have to move my fingers at all…i mean it's just easy for me to hold alt with my thumb.. so ihave alt + qwe for first row and alt + asd for second row. iirc i had tab hotkeyed to my courier in HoN.. I think I'm gonna end up doing that for this one.. idk what I'd use for cycle tho, tbh I don't think I'd ever need it.

i understand your "homerow" for dota or whatever is qwer or whatever.. but isn't the "homerow" normally ASDF for your left hand and JKL: for your right… all keyboards have that little indent on the F and J keys so everyone's fingers are naturally drawn to that position.

pinky is shift key's best friend, i literally never use my pinky for anything else than shift on keyboard

Anyone else use Windrunner legacy keys as their setup for every hero? WERF with pinky on A key for attack?

Yes… the hardware…
You could be using the Kinesis Advantage!
And ASDF abilities, because they are the main things you do in the game, right? Casting abilities?

I wanna switch hot keys from Legacy keys so bad but i just can't my 10+ years of dota experience making me question everything problem is my reaction time is so messed up due to age and some finger injuries playing sports. Typical Hotkey Legacy keys item is alt + QWEASD quick cast on alt qwas E and D are normal cast for forcestaff euls wards and lotus orb. I feel like I'm so slow using these hotkeys but it feels so right to me i just don't know i enjoy my game but some heroes are unplayable like Morphling, he's my favorite hero but after the Ult change legacy keys fucked things up for me like Drow Ult is letter P wtf. I'm sitting in divine 7 lost 200 mmr because of Hotkey experimentation on rank 🙁. I just need a video that will convince old players from switching Legacy keys to QWER.

Perhaps our imperfect human minds are unable to arrive at a reasonable conclusion that our main priorities are based on unforeseen timely factors.

Some useful tips here. I keep the courier controls as default just because I'm used to them (so much so that off the top I can't remember what they are – it's muscle memory). I play heroes like Puck quite often where every skill is an active, and most of your items will be actives too. I keep space as my panic button – usually blink dagger (could also be a Eul's or Ghost Sceptre). It's a button I'm unlikely to missclick so great in a sticky situation where I can mash it. I find X and C are easy buttons to reach for second and third priority items. I use them for combo items – Dagon for instance. Anything I want to use quickly after initiating. My other items are on my mouse.

Mid players have the most complicated hotkeys except for midone because he has the dota 1 mechanics combined with easier hotkeys. Miracle, Rtz, Dendi, Cancel all play in a legacy keys which expands the horizon for camera movement and APM you really need high APM for mid heroes if you want mechanically challenging heroes like Chen, Beastmaster, Meepo i suggest easiee hotkeys like Qwer dfczv(space) doesn't require high APM but it does the job for easy casual game.

Lol you have 'T' as taunt. I feel like T is one of the easiest keys to hit. I use it for items.

I started playing Dota 2 after TI8 when I saw two of my fellow country men to win (Finlandgogo! :D) I have a background from FPS games and I've never played MOBAS before this. I'm struggling to find good camera settings and a mouse DPI to move it effectively. As a competitive FPS player I'm used to 400dpi and it's just now enough in this playing field. What ballpark would you recommend to try to go to make the game a little bit easier?

Quick cast has its pros and cons. It will enable you to react faster or use items or skills faster but you will have less accuracy by using it. You also cannot determine whether the skill or item will be casted immediately from where your hero is standing. There will also be no guide for aoe activation.

Much appreciated, what are your thoughts on the auto-attack setting, Never, Standard, Always? As I read many different views on this.

I don't know man, I don't know .. I find my pinky is faster and more accurate than my 2 middle fingers personally. It might have to do with changing to esdf for FPS about 20 years ago. That's my home row; the one with the tactile nub under your index 🙂

Hey there! Whats good fellas? Ive got a question for yall. Im having this problem for years now about the chatwheel. I tried many times to change my chatwheel hotkey from Y to / but still when i press Y my chatwheel pops up. Its annoying me, I play a lot of invoker and have the dota1 hot key. Anyone knows how to change this shit?

Reply

WildChild December 20, 2019 at 5:47 pm

You can always use advanced quickcast, so you dont have everything on quick cast. When I play meepo i select what skills and item slots i want to be quick casted, and which ones i dont.

Iv been using quickcast for a month now. How do you double tab items like (euls.referesher.tp.force staff.) With quickcast activated.
